FRIENDS OF CHEPSTOW HOUSE WAS FORMED BY THE PARENTS of Chepstow house school students IN 2011. WE ACT AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE TEACHING STAFF, PARENTS, CHILDREN, SELECTED CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS, AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
We run activities through the year including seasonal celebrations such as Santa’s Grotto and the all-important Summer Fayre as well as a variety of fundraising activities to support our selected charities. We also host social events for parents to build and grow our parent community including regular coffee mornings, cocktail evenings and holiday get togethers. We also coordinate social activities for children such as sleepovers, kids quiz nights and more. As well, it is our goal to help enrich our children’s lives by helping them understand more about the world and the communities in which we live.
Secondhand uniform sales are held regularly each term in the school dining hall after drop off. Parents may leave items they wish to donate to the uniform sale at any point with the school receptionist. Nearly all items of school uniform are offered for sale as well as CHS branded water bottles, umbrellas and beanies.
With the 2017 school year we also introduced a new buddy system for any parents joining CHS outside of the traditional Reception start. We pair new parents with existing parents to help international parents navigate the sometimes confusing British education system, and all parents understand the ins-and-outs of Chepstow and sometimes just for advice on life with kids in Notting Hill.
FCH warmly welcomes involvement from all parents and there are a variety of ways to help out. The most time intensive but also the most rewarding is by acting as a class representative. This is a school year-long commitment that is ideal for parents who have the time to speak with teachers weekly and communicate several times a week with classroom parents. For parents whose time may be more limited, there are always special projects throughout the year such as serving on the Spring Gala Committee, helping with Santa’s Grotto, assisting with the Summer Fayre or creating your own committee for projects about which you are passionate. There is space for all skill sets! If you would like more information or would like to get involved, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to your child’s teacher to put you in touch with your classroom representative.
